Is drug testing a part of your company’s safety program? The Alaska Construction Industry Substance Abuse Program, also known as “AK Clean Card,” is a turn-key program, ready for your company to participate in.
The objective of the AK Clean Card program is to provide a drug and alcohol testing program for the construction industry in Alaska that results in efficiencies and economy for both contractors and their workers. There is one program is designed to accommodate DOT regulated employees, and another to serve non-DOT employees (bargaining unit or open shop) and your administrative employees.
Program tests performed are:
- Pre-program (for initial entry into the program)
- Random (50%)
- Reasonable Suspicion (Urine Analysis and Breath Alcohol)
- Post Accident (Urine Analysis and Breath Alcohol)
- Required Tests (for contractors’ policies or contract jobs that require pre-employment tests, regardless of participants’ compliance status)
Program compliance of workers may be viewed at a secure website by participating employers for rapid results.
The program is administered by a neutral third party, WorkSafe, Inc., who runs the random selections, provides specimen collections, test laboratory and Medical Review Officer services, and maintains the test results. Welfare and Pension Administrations Services handles all financial aspects of the program.
